That’s me
My name is Anne and I was born January 14th 1983 in a wonderful town called Erfurt in Thuringia, known as the heart of Germany. From my cradle my mother taught me the joy of cross-country skiing and my father passed his love of mountains on to me. As a child I always loved to be out among Nature and Wilderness. Therefore today I feel best being outdoors with the fresh air and freedom of spirit and soul. “Back to the roots” is my motto being on this journey and that’s how I love it!
I didn’t follow my childhood dream of marine biology in Australia, New Zealand or Canada after I finished school in 2002. Sadly? No, because it wasn’t meant to be at that time. I studied Sports and Economics in Bayreuth instead.
“Don’t dream your life, live your dreams.”
I finally understood the meaning of this quote when I first travelled to Australia for 15 months in 2004. As long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by this continent and I wanted to figure out why. The travel bug finally bit me when I got here and I have been in love ever since. Besides travelling, I love any kind of outdoor sports: skiing, snow-boarding, ski-touring, rock climbing, inline skating, diving… everything that’s fun, challenging and takes me close to Mother Nature. On the other hand, I also like reading an interesting book, having coffee catching up with friends, drawing, writing and poetry, photography, yoga and meditation. When I flew back to Germany in 2005 a dream followed me. I’d love to cycle around Australia on my bike. Everyone thought “she must be crazy” but I knew it wasn’t just an illusion: it would be reality.
